Ripon Noon Kiwanis Happy Bucks

Herm Leitz happily reported that “as of last night’s school board meeting, I am officially the head coach of the RHS wrestling team and at this point, “undefeated”!”

Marge Burling shared this bit of wisdom: “Did you know that health is simply the slowest possible rate at which you can die. And health nuts are going to feel really stupid someday when they are lying in the hospital dying of nothing.”

Bill Neill was happy that “Marge hasn’t lost her touch”.

Henrik Schatzinger was happy and proud of the way Jolene is handling her new endeavors and professional challenges.

Jolene Rueden was happy to report that October 7-9 the Ladies will be on the Loose in Ripon. New map and directories available and LoL brochures. She also thanked Kiwanians she saw at Septemberfest for their support of the Chamber-sponsored event.

Paul Nulton was happy that the Fannon family from Hortonville Wisconsin got to sing on the NBC show “Singout”. Their lead singer is 14 years old and they range in age from 14 to 28. They did not advance but did a terrific job. All of them went through Paul's wife’s music program in Hortonville.

Rich Scamehorn was happy to have Josh Pegram visiting today.

Queen of Spades 50/50 Raffle

Richard Zimman followed in the footsteps of the previous 25 losers, pulling the Ace of Hearts. Next week's pot starts at $213 with 27 cards left in the deck.

Today’s Program:
Paul Nulton with a Bit of Kiwanis Fun and Fellowship

Paul presented several topics for quick and spontaneous response, then asked each table to share one or two of the responses with the whole group.

  • Share which of the following reasons were most important to each of us when we joined Kiwanis: business connection; support children; felllowship of community leaders; or support the community.
  • if you could only do one Kiwanis activity this year, what would it be?
  • What brought you to Ripon?
  • How did you get into the career you are in?
  • What bumper stickers have you seen around town which have caught your attention?
  • Come up with a Kiwanis-themed bumper sticker:
Join Kiwanis – Help the World
Have lunch, have fun, change the world
    Kiwanis Rules – Rotary Blows
    You can count on Kiwanis
    Kiwanis Changes Communities
    Kiwanis: reaching children, changing lives
    Kiwanis: Touching children everywhere
    Kiwanis: Kick Butt for Kids
    Kiwanis: Service and Fellowship
What are you doing Tuesday for Lunch?

Assistant editor's note: Since this newsletter is coming out two weeks late, I'll leave these abbreviated meeting notes as they are. If you are interested in some of the answers to these questions, please email Tonya and I'll send you my extended meeting notes.
