Our committees are an opportunity for you to focus on a particular area that our organization is involved in. They exclusively deal with one particular issue and one goal. Not everyone feels
comfortable talking to people on the street or getting their hands dirty with yard work, so the committees are a great way to pick the part of the organization that is right up your alley.
The Committee on Club Meeting shall provide for the most effective club meeting possible for each week of the administrative year. Areas of responsibility involved include the club meeting program, music, house, reception, fellowship and inter-club relations, as well as other areas, which the committee may deem pertinent.
Duties which might fall under the direction of this committee include the Installation dinner, the mid-year Anniversary dinner, Valentine’s dinner, interclubs, meeting greeters, “funmeister” and program scheduling.
Membership Growth and Education
The Committee on Membership Growth and Education shall devise ways and means of maintaining an adequate membership of such standards as are provided in these bylaws. The committee shall consider all proposals for membership and shall submit its recommendations to the Board of Directors. The committee shall also devise effective plans for the orientation and induction of new members and the utilization of all members. The committee shall also promote the concept of all regular attendance at club meetings and review policy annually.
Duties which would fall under the direction of this committee might include a new membership drive as well as member education and training.
The Committee on Youth Services shall study, devise and suggest methods and means to assist boys and girls to adjust themselves to their environment and become adapted to the social, economic and moral demands which they may encounter, and shall develop ways and means of assisting in the guidance of youth in the selection of proper and suitable vocations, as well as other areas which the committee may deem pertinent.
Duties which might fall under the direction of this committee include the Santa Tree, the RHS Scholarship Night and selection of scholarship recipients.
The Committee on Community Services shall study, devise and suggest methods and means whereby this club can render effective community services. Areas of concern shall include agriculture, conservation, environment, pollution, public and business affairs, international relations, safety, as well as other areas, which the committee may deem pertinent.
Tasks which might fall under the direction of this committee include use, maintenance and upkeep of Kiwanis Park, flower beds, entrance signs and the Northwestern Trail, the Doug Lyke 5K Twilight Run, Salvation Army bell ringing, the Enchanted Forest tree at Dickens of a Christmas, RC2 road run, Ripon Community Theatre, and the Distance Running Clinic
Support of Spiritual Aims
The Committee on the Support of Spiritual Aims shall cooperate on broad and non-denominational lines with religious leaders and groups in their communities to create a greater individual and public consciousness of the importance of religious and spiritual values.
Duties which might fall under the direction of this committee include Christmas caroling for shut-ins and at Dickens of a Christmas, the Faith and Politics workshop with Brian Smith, prayers at meetings and Relay for Life.
Service Leadership Programs
The Committee on Service Leadership Programs shall devise ways and means to support Key Clubs in high schools, Builder’s Clubs in middle schools, Circle K clubs in the universities and colleges and an Aktion Club in partnership with Diverse Options, Inc.
Major Emphasis Programs (Young Children Priority One)
The Committee on Major Emphasis programs shall study, devise and suggest methods and means to implement the current Major Emphasis Programs of Kiwanis
“Tasks” which might fall under the direction of this committee include the Children’s Fair and Clothing Swap, possibly partnering with Ripon Medical Center on a bike safety event and donation of Caldecott Books for the Ripon Public Library.
The Committee on Fund Raising shall develop fund raising opportunities for the club.
Duties which might fall under the direction of this committee include brat fries, letter appeal to businesses and the cheese sale.
